SPORTS/REMEDIAL MASSAGE

If you have a sporting injury or even a non-sporting injury – I can help you!

With the growing number of people taking part in sport and combined with the increasing competitiveness and intensity of physical exercise, the demand for sports massage is increasing and becoming more recognised in aiding recovery, enhancing performance and helping to alleviate non sporting overuse injuries.

Sports and remedial massage is an effective therapy for releasing muscle tension and restoring balance to the musco-skeletal system.  A constant build up of tension may lead to stresses on the joints, ligaments, tendons as well as muscles themselves.

It is not just for sports – you can get an overuse condition by using the computer too or strain a muscle by picking something up that was too heavy or awkward, in fact a lot of tightness and imbalances are from work and everyday activities.

As a qualified Sports Massage Therapist & Complementary Therapist Lisa is able to treat a wide range of symptoms and ailments.

This is done through several types of massage:

Signature Deep Tissue Massage

Treatment length options 30, 60 or 90 Minutes.

A full body massage focusing on deep tissue work, lymphatic drainage, trigger point work and stretching.  This is a uninterrupted treatment for either 30, 60 or 90 minutes, it differs from Remedial/Sports Massage a little in pressure but mainly in that its pace is slower and firm, rather than faster massage movements and firm (in sports massage).  Massage Pressure: Medium/Firm

Remedial Massage

Treatment length options 30, 60 or 90 Minutes.

A firm, focused massage, excellent for relieving general tension.  Remedial Massage focuses on the deeper layers of muscle and fascia. The aim is to release tension within the body, un-sticking muscle fibres, and relieving chronic muscle aches and pains.  This is ideal for those looking for a full body maintenance massage routine for sports/body wellbeing and may include METS, Stretching, NMT/Trigger Points. Massage Pressure:  Medium/Firm as desired.

Sports Therapy Massage

Treatment length options: 30, 60 or 90 Minutes.

The most focused and area specific massage, and traditionally the firmest.
If you have chronic muscular pain ie: neck pain, back pain, golfers elbow etc. This is the treatment for you and will focus on the specific area you want pain relief from.  It can be applied to alleviate a variety of aches and pains, whether they arise in a sporting or recreational context or simply from the stresses of modern life. Through various types of manipulation and assisted stretching exercises, the primary aim of Sports Therapy Massage is to get you to a position where you are no longer experiencing discomfort or a limited range of movement.  Massage Pressure:  Medium/Firm or as desired.

Aroma Sports Fusion

Treatment length options: 30, 60 or 90 Minutes.

The same treatment as Sports Therapy Massage, but with the use of aromatherapy oils to target the bodies systems under pressure from a sporting/injury context. Aromatherapy can be used to target recovery from tendons/ligament/muscle injuries and post event/training to aid recovery.

Pre/Post Event Sports Massage

Treatment length options: 30 or 60 Minutes.

Optimise your performance or recovery by having a treatment before and directly after competitions. Area specific to sport advised.  During this time no deep work is used but specific techniques for smoothing muscles fibres and promoting/restoring range of movement.  Massage Pressure: Medium.
